From the Journal Tribune: “A York County Sheriff ’s Department deputy clocked a vehicle at alleged speeds of more than 110 miles per hour in a 55 mile zone on Route 202 Thursday. Sean Poole, 44, of Alfred and Hamilton, Mass., was arrested on charges of criminal speed and operating under the influence.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Saco firemen were called out Sunday afternoon to a fire at Lyn-Flex Industries on Lehner Road. Cause of the fire was found to be bales of cork which were smouldering. The fire was doused and no further damage was reported. This was the second time within a week that a fire of this nature was reported from the plant.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Because of the war in Europe Westbrook laundries are going to raise their rates on ‘wet washes.’ Just why the turmoil in Europe should effect the cost of cleansing family linen in Westbrook is not altogether clear but despite that it is the excuse that the laundry men have to offer. They say the cost of cleansing fluids has been advanced to such an extent that it has become necessary to ask more for their work.”
