Senior food distribution set for Sanford
SANFORD — Good Shepherd Food Bank, in partnership with Crossroads United Methodist Church, will be distributing food including fresh produce, perishable and non-perishable items to seniors 60 and older in the Sanford area.
Any senior 60 and older in need of emergency food assistance in Sanford and the surrounding area is welcome to attend.
The dates for upcoming distributions are: Oct. 13, Nov. 10 and Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Organizers remind folks this is a drive-thru food distribution; not a walk-in. One box per family will be handed out.
The distribution will be held at Crossroads United Methodist Church at the corner of Grammar Road and Route 202 in Sanford (across from North Country Tractor).
Good Shepherd Food Bank’s Food Mobile program allows the church to expand its outreach to Maine’s neediest and most under-served communities.
The distribution is made possible through the generosity of Kennebunk Savings Bank.

As a result of her academic and personal achievements, Katanna Dion-Bernier, 16, has secured a spot at Bard College at Simon’s Rock this fall. The school is the only college in the country designed specifically for students ready to enter college early, usually after the 10th or 11th grades.
Pecha Kucha Kennebunkport is seeking presenters
KENNEBUNKPORT— Have you got a passion to share, a good story to tell? Pecha Kucha Kennebunkport is the place to do it. At a past Pecha Kucha event, Claire Unsinn shared her celebration of her Franco-American heritage through fabric and Steve Price shared his musings on mud season in Maine.
A Pecha Kucha presenter has a timed show of 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds. That’s just 6 minutes and 40 seconds to explain your idea or tell your story. Those interested in participating may send submissions for the next Pecha Kucha Night on Nov. 10 at Atlantic Hall in Cape Porpoise. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 26. The application consists of three to five sample images, a short description of the presentation, and a brief biography. Submissions may be sent to pechakucha. kennebunk@gmail.com.
