From the Journal Tribune: “Despite an outcry from some concerned citizens, Ecomaine has been chosen as Biddeford’s waste removal provider, to succeed Maine Energy Removal Company. Council chambers were packed at Tuesday night’s City Council meeting with residents concerned about the decision of signing a new contract.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A basic adult education program for adults who have not completed the eighth grade has been approved for the Saco and Old Orchard school systems, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Howard Cushman announced this morning. The approval was granted by the State Department of Education under its Title IIB basic adult program.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The Saco city government had an unusually busy session Monday night and transacted some important business. A change in the entire lighting system of the city was authorized, that is, from the arc lights to the new 250 candle power incandescents which have been experimentally tried on Elm Street for some time, and also took action toward a new school house proposition by appointing a committee to investigate and report.”
