Just a few words to express my thoughts about Rep. Martin Grohman. He is an outstanding individual whom I have a lot of respect for.
Rep. Martin Grohman has been an advocate of veterans. He is an American Legion legislator of the year. He has helped veterans within our post, and has attended several of our meetings.
Marty has worked to assist Maine veterans find jobs after their enlistment has ended, and to help them sort out health benefits with the VA in Togus. He’s helped with the homeless veterans program at Volunteers of America.
He also successfully supported legislation to give veterans tuition at state colleges and universities, and to exempt military pensions from the state income tax.
I appreciate the work Marty has done with the veterans, the American Legion and other veterans groups in the local area. He’s someone you can count on.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
