From the Journal Tribune: “A Glenburn man has become the first angler to catch an Atlantic salmon on the Penobscot River since fishing for the sea-run species resumed nearly two weeks ago. Beau Peavey hooked a 12-pounder Wednesday morning while fishing below the Veazie Dam. It was the first legally caught in Maine waters since 1999.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “All of northern and eastern Maine will be at their peak of fall color this weekend, the Department of Economic Development said today. Although central and southern Maine have much vivid color in hardwood stands, the peak of foliage brilliance there won’t be reached for another week, the department says… Foliage change is central Maine is 35 to 60 per cent advanced and in the Sebago Lake and southwestern area, hardwoods are 45 to 50 per cent changed in color.”
