
Eric Sylvain, deputy fire chief, installed batteries last Thursday to Freeport Fire & Rescue’s new Engine 3, which became ready for service on Monday, Sept. 26. Sylvain said that the pumper/rescue truck, which cost $640,000, replaced a 1988 Grumman pumper. Engine 3 is one of three trucks purchased since 2001 by the department that have rescue bodies, which allow firefighters to carry more tools for multiple functions.

The two-story addition to Freeport High School as it looked late last week. Sheridan Corp. plans to complete the addition in back of the school by January.
