From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Pleasing exercises were carried out at the Jefferson Street Free Baptist church this afternoon at the unveiling of the Lafayette tablet presented to the society. The tablet is commemorative of the visit of Marquis Lafayette to this city in 1825 and tells the reader that the great French patriot worshiped in the building on which it is placed, during that visit.”
