Office hours

The Town Office, at Mallett Hall, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday 8:30 a.m.-6:30 and closed Friday. The office will be closed Monday, Sept. 5, for Labor Day.

Meetings

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Monday, Sept. 12 and Monday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall in the Dewitt Meeting Room.

The Planning Board will meet Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall. Among agenda items are discussions on tiny houses and solar farms.

Shiloh Chapel

hosts Griefshare

Griefshare groups give those dealing with the loss of a loved one the opportunity to get the tools and understanding to move through grief in a supportive and loving setting. The 13-week, faith-based program starts Monday, Sept 19, at 6:30 p.m., at Shiloh Chapel, Shiloh Road, Durham. The materials cost is $10. Tax notice

The 2016-2017 tax bills have been mailed. Those who are serviced by a mortgage company must provide them with a copy of the bill. Also, homeowners who want a receipt should enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with their check. The first quarterly payment is due Sept. 15.

Church supper

set for Sept. 17

First Parish Congregational Church, Route 9 in Pownal, will host a church supper on Saturday, Sept. 17. The menu includes baked beans and spaghetti. Seating is at 5 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $9 and $4 for children 5-12. Children under 5 are free. To reserve tickets call Lois at 688-4433

Food pantry on Wednesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church Food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. Fellowship, coffee and snacks are served before food distribution. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone. Donations are appreciated. The church office number is 688-4938.

Men’s breakfast

resumes Saturday

The First Parish Congregational Church of Pownal monthly Men’s Breakfast will resume on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 a.m. The breakfast open to any men who want to come, regardless of affiliation. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Church services

Prayer, Praise and Worship, with the Rev. Raymond St. Pierre, is held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., at the North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road. For more information, call St. Pierre at 837-0682 or Kim Drew, church secretary, at 837-2938.

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m., led by the Rev. Raymond St. Pierre. Sunday School for children and adults begins at 10:30 a.m. St. Pierre’s hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon and Thursdays by appointment only at 688-4938.
