York County Sheriff Bill King said deputies stopped Max Morganstern, 26, who was riding an ATV on Old Alfred Road at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday. King said Morganstern sped away when the deputy was getting out of his vehicle.
He said the ATV driver traveled about two-tenths of a mile and then turned into the entrance to Massabesic Middle School and crashed the vehicle.
King said the man was apprehended without incident, arrested and charged with failure to stop for a law enforcement officer, reckless operation of an ATV and operating an unregistered ATV.
Morganstern was taken to York County Jail, where he was held overnight on $400 cash bail.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
