1932 – 2016

BRUNSWICK — Lois Elizabeth Anderson 84, passed away Tuesday August 9, 2016 at her home in Brunswick. She was born June 28, 1932 in Minneapolis, MN, John and Elizabeth (Paar) Reilly. Lois graduated from North High School in Minneapolis and after 2 years at the University of Minnesota she decided to leave school and join the United States Foreign Service. She lived in New York City, Washington DC and many countries around the world including Brazil, Ecuador, Japan, and The Philippines. She met her husband, Charles C. Anderson, while they were both working at the United States Embassy in Algiers, Algeria; he was a Marine Corps Security Guard.

Lois moved to Brunswick in 1972, following Charles’ retirement from the Marine Corps; she lived in the same house until her death. She was an active member of the Navy Wives Club of America, and was also a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, Unit 156; serving as the New England Region President for one year.

Lois enjoyed reading mysteries, knitting and crocheting. She bowled for many years with the Bath Country Club and Phippsburg Ladies Fire Auxiliary bowling leagues.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband

She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Anderson) Rote and her husband Charles, her bothers Lawrence (Pat) Reilly and David Reilly, and her 2 grandchildren Wunderly age 18 and Benjamin age 16 as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am, Saturday August 13, 2016 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 132 McKeen St, in Brunswick. Following the funeral mass all are invited to attend an open house to celebrate Lois’s life at her home in Brunswick.
