WEST BATH — Gladys Meriam Walker, 83, of Quaker Point Road died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Bay Square in Yarmouth.

She was born in Spencer, MA on September 21, 1932, a daughter of William and Olive (Fairbrother) Constantine. She attended Spencer Public schools and graduated from David Prouty High School.

On March 31, 1951, she married George F. Walker Jr. and raised their family in Auburn Massachusetts. In Auburn, Gladys was a past president of Rotary-Ann’s. In 1982, George founded Delta Wire Corporation, which brought them to Clarksdale, Mississippi. In Clarksdale, Gladys continued her volunteer efforts working with Literacy Volunteers and the Clarksdale City Beautification Committee, among others. In 2013, she moved to permanently to Maine, where the Walker family have had a home since 1904.

She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Walker Jr. on May 7, 2010 and a daughter, Deborah A. Walker, in 1981.

Gladys is survived by two daughters, Anne Walker Merry and her husband Mark of West Bath, and Susan Walker-Cisternelli and her husband Bill of Yarmouth Port, MA; as well as six of her siblings, Fran Duquette and her husband Leo of Wells; Lyn Bouley and her husband Robert of Spencer, MA; Catherine Lindstrom and her husband Roy of Sutton, MA; Lois Sergent and her husband Bruce of Cape Cod, MA; Harold Constantine and his wife Joan of Spencer, MA; and Wendell Constantine and his wife Ann of Spencer, MA. She is also survived by six grandchildren, David, Georgia, Maura, and Michael, Jeffery, and Brendan, as well as many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Bosco.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Orchard Hill Cemetery in West Bath. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Humane Society, 190 Pleasant Street, Brunswick, 04011.
