EDGECOMB — A fund raising supper will be held at the Edgecomb Community Church on Saturday, Aug. 20
The supper will benefit the new Bargain Barn at the HOME Coop in Orland. The church has been working with HOME since 2001 and on several occasions has held work camps building homes for low income families and upgrading the physical facilities on the HOME campus. The current project is a cooperative venture by area volunteers to provide the electrical service, light and power for the new thrift store. The Bargain Barn provides clothing, furniture and appliances for residents of Hancock County and provides and income stream to fund the many programs at HOME.
Sponsored by the Mission Outreach Committee, the supper will be held in the wheel chair accessible church fellowship hall. The menu consists of homemade casseroles, salads, rolls, beverages and desserts. The supper will be served from 5-6 p.m. The charge is $8 for adults and $3.00 for children under 12.
The thrift shop will open at 4:30 p.m. for browsers who come early.
The church is located on Cross Point Road in Edgecomb. For more information, visit edgecombchurch.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
