Teddy Stankiewicz threw the first nine-inning complete game one-hitter in Sea Dogs franchise history as Portland (41-67) shutout Erie (44-65) 3-0 in front of 6,189 fans on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.
Stankiewicz (W, 4-7) retired 27 of 28 batters faced, with the lone hit coming in the sixth inning on a one-out single by Grayson Greiner.
Stankiewicz set a season-high with seven strikeouts and worked his second complete game of the season (5/14 v. Binghamton, 7.0 IP).
The Sea Dogs plated the game’s first run on an RBI ground rule double by Mauricio Dubon to score Rainel Rosario.
Portland struck again when Dubon led off the sixth with a double and Ryan Court doubled him in to extend the lead to 2-0. The Sea Dogs added their third run in the seventh on an RBI groundout by Dubon to score Rosario.
SeaWolves starter Artie Lewicki allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in six innings, walking none and striking out six.
Portland and Erie square off for game two of their series tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. LHP Jalen Beeks (2-2, 4.46) is scheduled to start for Portland against RHP David Martinez (1-1, 4.12) of Erie.
