TOPSHAM

Topsham-based Wicked Joe Coffee Roasting Company recently announced its status as a certified B Corporation (B Corp).

The announcement comes after an assessment of Wicked Joe’s community, environmental, governance and employee practices conducted by the nonprofit B Lab.

B Corp is a certification that generates an impact report card on a company, giving a score to five key factors — environment, workers, customers, community and governance.

Wicked Joe’s overall score was 108. To be eligible for certification, a company must score 80 or higher. With the completion of the process, Wicked Joe joins the more than 1,600 companies nationwide that are certified B Corp.

“We are very proud to have achieved the B Corp certification using best business practices,” said Carmen Garver, owner/treasurer of Wicked Joe. “At Wicked Joe, we maintain high social, environmental, production and performance practices, while the B Corp validates those practices at the highest level. At our core we believe that while building a sustainable company and creating exceptional coffees, we have the greatest lasting impact on our environment and community.”
