KENNEBUNKPORT — Seashore Trolley Museum has received Down East magazine’s 2016 Editor’s Choice award for best family museum.
Trustee Chairman James Schantz and Executive Director Sally Bates accepted the award on behalf of the museum at the 2016 “Best of Maine” reception hosted by the magazine on June 23.
“We appreciate being recognized for the quality of our collection and the experience that our outstanding volunteers provide to visitors,” Bates said. “History is presented here in an active and relevant environment where kids can be kids and every family member will find something to like. We welcome canine family members too. Our special events calendar is packed with activities to interest families, couples and singles.”
Seashore Trolley Museum is the world’s oldest and largest electric railway museum. Located at 195 Log Cabin Road, the museum’s large campus has parking, restrooms and picnic tables.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
