AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine Gov. Paul LePage says he’ll once again put forth his selection for education commissioner in the new year – if he views the new Legislature as more favorable.

LePage reiterated his position in a letter in which he complained that the current Legislature chose “to play politics” with his nomination of William Beardsley to run the Education Department.

In February, LePage rescinded his nomination and tapped Beardsley to serve as acting commissioner for six months, then deputy commissioner.
