Learning Faith
The Bible tells us to have faith, but what exactly is faith? The dictionary defines it as firm belief or trust in a person, thing, doctrine or statement. Might it be likened to learning to swim? We start off in shallow water where we feel safe and our feet can touch bottom. But gradually we start to venture out into the deeper waters, until one day we discover that the water will support us. We just need relax, to breathe, and move our arms and legs in certain ways, to surrender ourselves to the water and it will hold us up. The water may get rough from time to time, but we know we can stay afloat, and when this happens we have gained a faith and knowledge that will remain with us for the rest of our days. Faith in God is about surrendering ourselves to his care. When we surrender ourselves to him things will never be the same again. We are assured that no matter how difficult our lives may be God will be watching over us. Learning to have a firm faith in God can take time, but the moment comes, and when it does our lives are forever changed.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
