SANFORD — Fans that attend Monday’s Sanford Mainers game will get a special treat as Wally the Green Monster, who is the mascot for the Boston Red Sox, will be in attendance.
Wally will be joined by his little sister Tessie and stay for about two hours starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Red Sox mascot will throw out the first pitch, dance with Mainers mascots Broose and Boomer, sign autographs and have his picture taken with fans.
The theme of the game is “Filling the Shelves of the Sanford Food Pantry,” and fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable groceries to the event.
Wally derives his name from the 37-foot high Green Monster in left field at Fenway Park in Boston. More info about the Mainers schedule can be found at www.sanfordmainers.com.
