Blue Fest big hit
The Blues Fest enjoyed the best weather ever, and thus a huge crowd. What a wonderful boost to the Naples area and economy. Thank you, Blues Fest Committee, for organizing such a great event.
Dance and cruise
The Naples Lion’s Club is hosting three themed dance cruises this summer, all held on Saturday nights from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The theme July 9 is Country; July 30, Golden Oldies; and Sept. 3, Good Old Classic Rock ‘n’ Roll. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. All net proceeds from Lions Events go to various charities, so have some fun for a good cause.
Run for a good cause
Speaking of good causes, now is the time to sign up for the Family Fun Naples Causeway 5K Run or Walk. The event will begin right beside Bray’s Brew Pub on Sunday, Aug. 28. Instructors from Fountain Of You Fitness (one of the event’s sponsors) will lead a warm-up for the crowd at 7:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 8 a.m. You must register before Aug. 15 to get your free T shirt, included with the entry fee. Island clambake for seniors
The Casco and Naples recreation departments invites seniors to experience an authentic Downeast Clambake on Wednesday, July 13. The adventure begins with a luxury cruise up the coast to the Boothbay Harbor region. Take time to enjoy local artists and craftsmen, diverse galleries, antique shops and specialty stores. Next, after a scenic tour of the harbor aboard the Argo, you’ll cruise to Cabbage Island in Linekin Bay, where a succulent feast of Maine lobster and clams with all the traditional fixings awaits. The bus departs from the Naples American Legion at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 6:30 pm. The cost is $62 per person for Casco and Naples residents 60 and over. Nonresidents pay $94 per person.
