ALPINE, Texas (AP) — Joaquin Jackson, a retired Texas Ranger who became an author and actor, has died at his West Texas home.
Jackson died June 15 in Alpine. Liz Jackson said Tuesday that her father-in-law had cancer. He was 80.
Jackson was born in Anton, Texas. He farmed and worked as a cowboy before becoming a state trooper. Jackson joined the elite Texas Rangers in 1966. He retired in 1993.
Jackson published two books, “One Ranger: A Memoir” and “One Ranger Returns.”
