Roxane W. Isbey, 87, of Nashville, TN died Tuesday June 7, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents Ford H. and Gertrude V. Whelden, her sister Gertrude W. Hull and her son Brian F. Isbey.
A 1950 graduate of Smith College, she was born in Detroit, MI on December 17, 1928, one of four girls. She is survived by her two sisters: Bonnie W. Franks and Darden Carr and her four children: Roxane W. Isbey, Jr, Edward K. Isbey, III M.D. ( Jane L.), Ford D. Isbey ( Julie) and Caroline B. Isbey-Russell (Allen L.). She was blessed with five grandchildren: Elizabeth Isbey, Sarah Isbey (Daniel Hassouni), Kathleen Isbey, Nicholas Isbey, and Briana Isbey. There are many nieces and nephews and their children, cousins and great grandchildren who continued to stay in contact with her affectionately. She maintained deep and supportive relationships with countless friends throughout the years.
A lifelong Episcopalian, Roxane, found God’s presence in a myriad of experiences throughout her life. Her devotion to raising a family and love of traveling, reading, gardening, tennis and spiritual discovery brought her great happiness and fed her thirst for life. She participated in the churches wherever she lived and in Nashville the lay ministers would bring communion, pray and visit with her. She loved to travel abroad and across the country visiting numerous family and friends. Whether traveling to North Carolina, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Colorado and countless other places… her thirst for knowledge and life experiences was always present and filled her spirit. She loved children and the joy and life they represented. She maintained a keen, spry memory and sense of humor to her final days.

Visitation was from 4:00 – 8:00pm on Tuesday June 14, 2016 at Marshall-Donnelly- Combs Funeral Home, 201 25th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37203.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30am on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike, and Nashville, TN 37205.
