BIDDEFORD — A pair of Biddeford standouts and one Sanford star have been named finalists for the prestigious Miss Maine Softball award.

Biddeford seniors Kirsten Lebreux and Erin Martin and Sanford’s Jen Jones were all selected as finalists after stellar 2016 campaigns.

Lebreux and Martin have both played key roles in the Tigers’ run to Saturday’s Class A state championship game.

Jones closed out her stellar Sanford career with another impressive season – both at the plate and in the pitchers’ circle.

The other finalists are Bangor’s Emily Gilmore, Madison’s Aly LeBlanc, Hermon’s Karli Theberge, York’s Stephanie Rundlett, Scarborough’s Maggie Murphy and Messalonskee’s Kirsten Pelletier.

The award will be handed out during the Maine Softball Coaches Association’s Senior North-South Games, which will be held on Thursday, June 23 at Cony High School. The Class C-D game will be held at 4 p.m. with the Class A-B game to follow.

Several local players were named to the Class A-B South All-Star team. Thornton Academy’s Libby Pomerleau, Maizee Lee, Kaylee Burns and Hayden Campbell all made the South team along with Biddeford’s Martin and Lebreux, Sanford’s Nicole Main and Jones and Noble’s Tyler Chastney.

Also on the Class A South team are Scarborough’s Chloe Gorey, Maggie Murphy and Kaleigh Scoville and Windham’s Sadie Nelson.

The MSCA will also hold an Underclass Showcase on Tuesday, June 21 at St. Joseph’s College and Maine-New Hampshire Senior Games at Spaulding High School in Rochester, New Hampshire on Tuesday, June 28.
