From the Journal Tribune: “Area bus companies will offer free rides on June 7 to help celebrate the 12th annual Commute Another Way Day in Maine. Commute Another Way Day promotes low cost, fuel-efficient and healthful modes of transportation to Maine businesses and commuters. In the Biddeford-Saco-Old Orchard Beach area, commuters who have registered can ride free all day on the Shuttlebus Tri Town that operates between the three areas, as well as Scarborough, the Maine Mall and downtown Portland.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A four-year-old Biddeford boy fell from a wharf into Wadleigh Pond here yesterday evening and drowned, according to York County Sheriff ’s Department. Ricky Jane was playing with his two-year-old cousin when the mishap occurred at the cottage of Richard Gobeil of Biddeford. The younger boy, Todd Guay, ran inside saying that his cousin had fallen into the water.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Guiseppe Franco, the shoe repairer on Main Street, called on an officer at the police station this morning and wanted him to help him locate his fourteen-year-old daughter whom he claimed had left the Franco home on Hill street this morning in company with a man and a boy, and that she took dress suit cases with her.”
