BIDDEFORD — Hugh “Mike” MacDonald, 62, of Kennebunk, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016, at his favorite place on Earth: “Camp!”
Mike was born June 7, 1953, in Biddeford to Hugh and Rita (Marcotte) MacDonald.
Mike started working in auto body at Metro Autobody Shop, then moved on to Saco Motors. He also owned his own business, J&M Autobody. He worked at Peterbilt of Maine in 1989 until he retired in 2009.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting (although we all know he never really wanted to hurt anything). He also enjoyed building a three-wheeled motorcycle in the ’70s, owning a Corvette, and building his own Peterbilt truck.
His favorite place was the family camp, and he spent most of his summers there with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his sister, Pamela; and a nephew, little Rod.
He is survived by: four children, Jill Robert and her husband Gregg of Lyman, Eric Beaulieu and his wife Meghan of Cumberland, Kelly Beaulieu of Biddeford, and Ashley MacDonald of Saco; seven grandchildren; siblings Kathy, Barbara, Rodney, Linda, Roxanne and Patricia; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and dozes of nieces and nephews.
As he wished, private services will be held.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
