Seagulls win close game

From Staff Reports The Old Orchard Beach bats stayed hot Thursday, beating North Yarmouth Academy 10-9 in a high-scoring affair. Both Evan O’Donnell and Jon Gillis collected two hits, while Cody Blanchette came in to pinch hit and knocked in the go-ahead run and eventual game-winner in the fifth. Brian Davis took the mound for OOB, pitching three innings while Payton Blanchette and Dylan Creswell came in relief.

Boys Tennis

Kenneb unk 4, Grel y 1 The Rams got a hard-fought win against Greely Thursday afternoon, with two matches going to three sets. Caleb Eickman won his singles match 6-2, 6-4, while Dan Behrens won his match 6-1,6-3. Mason Burke won his fist set 6-4, however dropped the second 6-4. He rebounded and won the third 6-1. Kennebunk’s doubles team of Nick Dugauqier and Jared Allen also won in three sets, taking the first 6-2, dropping the second 6-4, then winning the third 6-2.

Mars hwoo d 5, Noble 3 Noble dropped its match against Marshwood Thursday despite a strong performannce by Shaughnessey Gower, who pitched seven innings and tallying seven stikeouts. Kayla Lessard led the Knights at the plate, earning four of Noble’s five hits.

OOB bo ys pla ce third in tra ck meet , girls fift h

The Old Orchard Beach boys track team placed third in its meet against Falmouth, Wells and North Yarmouth Academy on Thursday, whille the girls squad placed fifth. OOB’s first place finishers were Zach Hirst in the triple jump and Josh Martin in the 3,200. The OOB boys also placed second in the 400 relay with Erik Hogan, Ian Regan, Hirst, and Zach Brasier, then later finished second in the 3,200 with Martin, Liam Brock, Noah Doucette and Connor Rice. Hogan finished third in the 200 meters, while Seamus Roche placed fourth in the 400. The girls finished third in the 1,600 relay with Mrgan Niedziecki, Kat Morin, Mikayla Grier and Cierra Albert. Niedzwiecki finished sixth in the discus while Albert also finsihed sixth in the 400 meters.
