Sanford Maine Stage Theatre Co. will perform “Eclipsed” at Nissan Little Theatre, 457 Main St. in Springvale on May 14. The wine bar opens at 5:30 p.m., dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. The show is an audience participation mystery and comedy by Lisa Patrick-Wilkinson. “Murder at the Howard Johnson’s” at City Theater in Biddeford is a suspense comedy that follows three hapless lovers as they try unsuccessfully to murder one another in ridiculous ways. Performances are May 13-22, times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20, and can be purchased by calling 282-0849 or visiting citytheater.org.

Ogunquit Playhouse 2016 Children’s Theatre will present “Disney’s The Jungle Book, Kids” on July 2 at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and July 3 at 10 a.m. The jungle is jumpin’ with a jazzy beat as the exciting Disney classic brings to life the familiar characters and adventures from the movie. Join Mowgli, Baloo, King Louie and the gang as they swing their way through madcap adventures and thwart the ferocious tiger, Shere Kahn. This musical was adapted from the beloved film and includes everyone’s favorite Disney tunes like “The Bare Necessities” and “I Wan’na Be Like You.” This production is ideal for kids of all ages, so be sure to bring the whole family out to experience this exciting adventure in the jungle. “Beneath the Surface, New England Wax Encaustic Artists” is a special exhibition at the Saco Museum that features work from New England Wax (N.E.W.), a regional association of artists who work in encaustic, a beeswax-based painting medium. The show will run until May 28. Juried by Ron Crusan, executive director and curator of the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, the exhibition includes 103 works by 25 artists representing all six of the New England states. The Dyer Library/Saco Museum is located at 371 Main St. in Saco.

“Boats Only,” a collection of paintings by Diane Noble, will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center until May 31. Noble is a K-2 art teacher in the Saco Schools and the art curator for the Biddeford Campus Center Art Wall. The exhibition features 16 acrylic paintings of skiffs, rowboats and lobster boats. The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford. The 38th Annual Student Art Show at Barn Gallery will be held on Saturday and Sunday, from 1 to 4 p.m. Elementary through high school students show their latest work at the art show. An art show with works from Danie Connolly begins with a free reception on July 7 at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided, and the artist will answer questions. The art will remain on display for the month of July. The Kennebunk artist is a painter and photographer. Her anticipated upcoming photography exhibit, “Norman Rockwell’s Small Town America,” will feature local characters posing in iconic Saturday Evening Post covers as a part of Kennebunk’s Norman Rockwell event this August. The Wells Summer Concert Series will kick off its summer concert schedule on July 2 with “The Strafford Wind Symphony.” The symphony is a gathering of 55 musicians featuring patriotic music as well as a mix of traditional music for the enjoyment of the young and old. All concerts are held at Hope Hobbs Gazebo in Harbor Park, 331 Harbor Road, Wells. The concerts all begin at 6:30 p.m.

AUDITIONS

Auditions for the upcoming Senior Theatre Production “Sometimes a Rainbow” by Tom Northam will be held on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Nasson Little Theatre, 457 Main St., in Springvale. SPECIAL INTEREST

The Sanford-Springvale Historical Society will host a reception on May 12 from 5-7 p.m. to mark the opening of its new exhibit “Sanford and Springvale in the Post War Years.” Photographs, mostly from the camera of Russell Goodall, show the city in the years after World War II through the late 1970s. Large format color photos will feature parades and music festivals, churches, Main Street when it was lined by elm trees, Nasson College, a vintage Rolls Royce in front of the Goodall Mansion, Goodall Hospital and some of it’s leading staff members, men and women at work in local industries, the Goodall Mill complex, a fire that destroyed the Kostis Block, Longfellow School being demolished, drag racing at Sanford Airport and more. The museum is located at 505 Main St., Springvale. Refreshments will be served, and the museum is handicap accessible.
