BRUNSWICK
It was a busy Friday in high school track, with Brunswick, Morse, Mt. Ararat, Freeport and Lisbon teams in action.
At Brunswick High School, the Dragon girls scored a big win, edging Lewiston, 173-162.50. Lisbon (101), Morse (84.50) and Medomak Valley (28) also participated in the five-team meet.
On the boys side, the Blue Devils came out on top, edging Brunswick, 121-106.40. Lisbon (79.40) captured third, Morse (59.20) fourth and Medomak Valley (28) was fifth.
In the girls meet, Dragon runner Emily Black took first in the 800-meter run in 2:39.78, while Tessa Cassidy was tops in the 1,600 (5:51.35) and 3,200 (12:19), giving Brunswick a sweep of the individual long-distance runs.
Brunswick’s 4 x 400 relay team of Lily Munro, Black, Kyra Teboe and Lena Martin captured the top spot in 4:45.92, while Martin, Adrianna White, Black and Cassidy were first in the 4 x 800 relay in 10:57.48.
Lexie Bernier dominated the throws, winning the shot put, discus and javelin events, while Anna Rider took home first in the pole vault.
Lisbon’s Bree Sautter pushed ahead of the field in the 400 (1:06.52), while Greyhound Chase Collier was second in the 100 hurdles and long jump (14- 07.50).
Morse high jumper Haley Kinghorn was tops in the high jump (4-08), with Sydney McCarren taking second to Cassidy in the 1,600 (6:02.03).
On the boys side, Brunswick’s Hunter Garrett sprinted past the field in both the 100- and 200- meter runs (12.14, 25.01, respectively), while Keenan Welzel captured the 400 in 52.37, ahead of Lisbon’s Henry Adams (57.10).
Morse’s Christopher Walfield captured first in the 1,600 (4:49.95) and second in the 3,200 (10:57.33), while Dragon Seth White earned first place in the 110 hurdles (17.31) and second in the 300 hurdles (45.06).
Lisbon’s Mike Schlotterbeck won the 1,600 race/walk in 8:33.20.
In the relays, Brunswick’s Shane Lyons, Garrett, Joe Perkins and Donald Bromiley were first in the 4 x 100, and Dragons Cameron Ashby, Jason Higginbotham, Daniel Lyons and Chris Tucker were tops in the 4 x 800.
The foursome of Kurtis Bolton, Morgan Perron, Austin Bedford and Adams won the 4 x 400 relay for Lisbon.
In the field events, Brunswick’s Ryan Olson won the high jump (5-06), while White picked up his second win in capturing the long jump (19-01.75).
Bedford added a win for Lisbon, taking the pole vault with a vault of 10-06.
For Morse, Juwan Moore was a double winner, capturing the shot put (47-02) and discus (108-07).
Mt. Ararat
The Eagles traveled to Belfast on Friday, facing a challenging field.
Belfast won both the girls and boys meets, with Messalonskee the runner-up and Mt. Ararat third, with Mt. View rounding it out.
The Mt. Ararat boys captured the 4 x 800 relay and finished second in the 4 x 100.
Staying with the Eagle boys, Aaron Hyde was second in the 1,600 in 5:13.57, Matthew Donovan runner-up in the 300 hurdles (48.56), Cole Guerin second in the 200 (25.17) and Cameron Meier claimed second in the 3,200 (10:26.19).
In the field events, Eagles triple jumper Dalton Streeter’s leap of 37-03 took the top spot.
In the girls meet, Katherine Leckbee made it a sweep of the 3,200 for the Eagles in a time of 11:49.28.
Mt.Ararat’s 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays were second, along with Sara York in the 800 (2:34.15) and high jump (4-04), and Lauren Labbay in the long jump (14-03) and pole vault (11-0).
Freeport
In a five-team meet at Fryeburg Academy, Freeport claimed fourth in the boys meet and fifth in the girls.
Wins for the Falcons came from Henry Jaques in the 3,200 (10:09.16) and the girls 4 x 800 relay (11:41.10).
Other top Freeport finishers were turned in by Johanna Bogue-Marlow (400, third), Lilly Horne (1,600, third), Patricia Dupere (300 hurdles,second), the 4 x 100 girls relay (second), Hannah Schnyder (long jump, second), Nicholas Mitch (200, second), Erik Brobst (800, third; 1,600, second), Griffin Agnese (300 hurdles, third), the boys relays (all three finished third) and Rick Tucker (shot put, third).
Freeport returns to meet action on Wednesday at Lake Region, while Brunswick and Mt. Ararat visit Morse at the McMann Field Complex on Friday. Lisbon is at Hall-Dale today and hosts a meet, which includes Brunswick, on Saturday.
