BRUNSWICK — Peter Panagore, author of the new book, “Heaven is Beautiful,” will speak Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at First Parish Church of Brunswick.

According to a press release: “As a college student ice climbing in Alberta, Panagore became trapped on the mountainside.

When the sun went down, he succumbed to exhaustion and hypothermia and died. Before he was brought back to life, he felt himself drawn out of his body to stand before a large door. The sense of love and forgiveness he experienced that night has shaped him and his outreach since then. Today some call him ‘a midwife to the dying.’”

“Dying is just the beginning,” says Panagore in the release. “This heaven (I experienced) was full of music, of cosmic sound, of the choir of angels; it was the most beautiful sound that I had ever heard—an incredible beauty.”

The program will be held in the vestry annex to First Parish Church on Maine Street, across from the Bowdoin College campus. All are welcome.
