TRENTON, N.J. — Tim Roberson ripped a bases-loaded double into the gap in left center with two outs in the top of the 10th, clearing the bases to lift the Portland Sea Dogs a 6-3 win over the Trenton Thunder on Tuesday in an Eastern League game at Arm & Hammer Park.
Closer Mitch Atkins struck out the side to end the game for Portland.
The Sea Dogs evened their record at 3-3 with the win, while the Thunder dipped to 3-2.
Jake Cave gave Trenton a 1-0 lead in the second, lining a 3-1 pitch over the right field fence to open the inning and end Portland starter Aaron Wilkerson’s streak of 129 2/3 innings without allowing a home run.
Portland countered in the top of the fourth, loading the bases with one out. Tzu-Wei Lin singled home Jake Romanski to tie the game before Jordan Weems scored on a sarifice fly by Mike Miller to make it 2-1. Portland tacked on a run when Rainel Rosario scored on a wild pitch in the fifth. The Thunder tied the game off reliever Simon Mercedes when Dante Bichette Jr. hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning.
