From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Police Chief John Clark said today that the appropriation of $58,620, voted last night by the council for the police department, was a revised figure over a previously announced appropriation and ‘still $11,000 less than last year.’ On Feb. 16, the council voted a sum of $54,770 to the department, Chief Clark had requested a budget of $71,704.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “With the passing of each successive day the danger of a freshet on the Saco river grows less and with the continuation a while longer will have passed unless some unforseen contigency should develop. Since Sunday, April 2, the water at the Bradbury dam has dropped four inches, the rending this morning showing a depth of 43 inches passing over the dam as compared with 47 inches on Sunday.”
