JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP)— The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired 76-year-old Monte Kiffin as a defensive assistant.
Kiffin worked with the team during the 2015 offseason and helped coach Gus Bradley earlier this year during his search for a new defensive coordinator. Now, Kiffin will be more involved.
“His wealth of experience and knowledge about the game will be a tremendous asset to our entire coaching staff,” Bradley said.
Kiffin is entering his 50th year of coaching, with 28 years of NFL experience and 21 years in the collegiate ranks. He was Tampa Bay’s defensive coordinator from 1996 to 2008. Bradley and current Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash worked under Kiffin during his time in Tampa.
Kiffin most recently served as defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in 2013 and then assistant head coach for the defense in 2014. Before that, he was Southern California’s defensive coordinator (2010-12).
