SACO — Despite taking a 0-0 score into the second period, the Massabesic/Old Orchard Beach/Bonny Eagle boys hockey team fell to top-seeded Scarborough 7-0 in the Class A South quarterfinals.
MOB managed to keep Scarborough off the board in the opening period, however less than two minutes into the second the Red Storm drew first blood off of a goal from Cam Smith.
Scarborough’s Matt Caron was the difference in the game, scoring four straight goals for the Red Storm, three of which coming in the final 12 minutes of the second period.
Scarborough took a 4-0 lead into the final period, but thanks to scores from Caron, Cam Nigro and Jack Callahan, the Red Storm finished the third strong to complete the convincing 7-0 shutout win.
MOB closes out the season with a 9-10 record, while Scarborough will take on Cheverus in the semifinals in Lewiston on Saturday afternoon.
