From the Journal Tribune: “Although the clock tower atop the Lincoln Mill boasts one of the most serene views of the city, its recent history has been turbulent. A grassroots committee organized in 2002 to save the clock tower from being disbanded and sold, was dissolved last spring, leaving the money it had raised to the Biddeford Historical Society. The committee once planned to restore the tower, get the clock ticking again and set up a trust for the tower. But dreams for the clock were not realized and since that time, it has been falling into greater disrepair.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The Maine Theaters company, which sometime ago, leased the property covered by the Chute & Severance store at the corner of Bacon and Alfred streets, this city, today closed a deal for a large area in the rear of the same store compromising some 6,000 square feet. The new area will make possible the building of a large stage in the new theater which is to be built there and will also insure the erection of a house of 1400 seating capacity.”
