From the Journal Tribune: “Goodall Hospital has appealed to York County Superior Court in an effort to recoup $1.4 million is says it is owed by the state Department of Health and Human services, claiming it has received no payments since the bill became past due Nov. 1. The hospital seeks payment for providing services to MaineCare patients for 2004. According to Goodall Hospital, the payment became overdue on Oct. 31, 2005, 12 months after the facility submitted its claim to DHHS.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A $2.5 million dollar bond issue for construction of the State Highway Commission office building and $1.8 million worth of general funds appropriations were enacted by the Maine Senate today as the special session headed toward the final adjournment. The beginning of the crucial financing stage came in the early hour of the session’s 12th day.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Eugene A. Fairfield of Kennebunk, for the past 16 years postmaster in that town turned over his office to his successor today, John H. Cooper. During Mr. Fairfields term of office he has witnessed many changes. Rural delivery service, the postal savings bank, and the parcel post, with insurance and C.O.D. features all have been added during his term.”
