SACO — The Thornton Academy girls basketball team was able to hang with unbeaten Gorham throughout Tuesday night’s game, but in the end it would be the visiting Rams picking up the 60-51 win and improving to 15-0 on the season.
Gorham held a slim four-point lead after each of the first three quarters, but the Rams would outscore TA 20- 15 in the fourth to secure the win.
TA (9-6) was led by Alex Hart with 12 points. Ashley Howe and Isabella Robinson each finished the game with 10 points and Kaylee Burns added nine points in the loss.
Mackenzie Holmes led Gorham with 22 points and Emily Esposito finished with 16 points.
Boys Basketball
Marshwood 68, Biddeford 47
The host Tigers (1-14) trailed by just four after the opening quarter, but Marshwood would push the lead to 11 at halftime and cruised to the win from there.
Biddeford, which was playing without standout Patrick Pearl, was led by Kyle Norton with 13 points and Alex Millett with eight points.
Marshwood (7-7) was led by Ryan O’Neil with 21 points. Dawson Casey added 14 points and Ben Beers finished with 13 points in the win.
