JOHNSON, Vt. — Alayne Felix scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball team to a 59-47 North Atlantic Conference victory over Johnson State on Saturday afternoon.
The Mariners built an early 8-0 lead, led by six points from Felix, but the Badgers closed the gap to 11- 8 following a free throw from Kasey DeGreenia. Felix hit two free throws at the end of the first quarter to put Maine Maritime up 13-8.
Johnson State fought back in the second quarter, tying the game at 26-26 in the final minute of the quarter, but Kristi Willey of Topsham scored two from the line to give the Mariners the 28-26 lead to enter the half.
Willey and Alex Winchester contributed seven points apiece.
In earlier action, MMA cruised to a 63-44 NAS win over Lyndon on Friday.
Willey had seven rebounds, six points and two assists.
The Mariners improved to 7-6 overall and 4-3 in the NAC. Maine Maritime returns to action this upcoming Friday at home against Green Mountain College at 5:30 p.m..
