From the Journal Tribune: “City-owned buildings need considerable improvement, according to recent maintenance assessments, which found about $8 million worth of necessary and suggested renovations. A facility assessment report was prepared by Oak Point Associates, which reviewed the state of City Hall, the Police Station, Central Fire Station, Emery School, the Public Works Building and the J. Richard Martin Community Center.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Pleas of innocent to a variety of charges ranging from assault to robbery were entered by five men during arraignment yesterday afternoon in York County Superior Court here. Joseph Ernest Rouselle, 27, Kennebunk and John Chick, 24, Wells, were arraigned on five counts each resulting from a police investigation of a long list of York County breaks and car thefts, and both pleaded innocent to each of the incidents.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “At Lewiston last evening, Jack Russell broke the state single string record by upsetting 181 maples. Russell missed one easy spare break which would had given him an even fatter string. In piling up the big string the Lewiston bowler cleaned up five spared and crashed strikes in the seventh, eight and ninth boxes.”
