From the Journal Tribune: “Citizens more than 55- years-old looking for the relative ease of condominium living with no lawns to mow and no worries about landscaping will soon have a new choice. A partnership between Gallo construction and Washington Street Associations received initial contract zone approval from the Town Council earlier this week, a necessary step along the way for the 100-unit project, called Rock Pond Estates, to be built.”

50 years ago

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Saco’s City Hall is having its facade “lifted.” New double glass doors are being installed in the front entrance of the building. Inside, the foyer doors will also be changed and glass doors hung in their places. The new doors will take the guesswork out of entering and leaving the hall.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Jethro G. Hurd, who for the past 12 years had been suffering from a disease of the nerves in his face and head, died at his home at Springvale, Saturday, at the age of 79. Mr. Hurd’s case had attracted much attention from the medical profession, many operations having been performed by Portland and Boston specialists during his long illness.”
