From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “A handsome bulldog which was stolen in Portland was recovered by Captain Fred S. Doyle, Monday evening. The officer after being notified by Portland officers, learned that the dog had been brought as far as Saco on a Portland electric car, but no trace of him could be found until Monday evening when Captain Doyle, who had a good description, spied the dog playing with another dog on Main street. He picked him up and the Portland owner was notified. Although not considered a valuable dog, he is the pet of the owner and his family. It is believed the party who stole the dog became frightened and let him loose.
