From the Journal Tribune: “More than 300 residents showed up at the high school gymnasium for the special Town Meeting Tuesday to approve a new $1.65 million fire station in West Kennebunk and to pass Comprehensive Plan amendments, thus making way for affordable housing at the former Cousens School. The article for a $1 million fire station bond passed in a 211-95 written ballot vote.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Saco police are conducting a further investigation into circumstances surrounding the recovery of a red and white car which was reported stolen in Portland. Lt. Fred Cote said the car was towed to the station after police were notified by residents of Temple Street that a car had been parked on the street since Saturday.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “The home of Clifton A. Tibbetts at Goodwins Mills was completely destroyed by fire Monday night with a loss estimated at $2,000, said to be covered by insurance. Most of the household goods were saved and much property from the cellar, where he had about 400 bushels of potatoes and about 600 bushels of apples, the potatoes and apples bring a practical total loss.”
