Jud Caswell in library concert

Folk musician Jud Caswell will perform in concert Saturday, Nov. 14, at 6:30 p.m., at the South Portland Public Library. The show will also celebrate the release of Caswell’s newest CD. Caswell is known for his banjo picking and jumping Irish jigs.

Turkey drop benefits pantry

Pape Subaru and local radio station 93.1 are co-hosting a turkey drop Saturday, Nov. 14, to benefit the South Portland Food Cupboard. All donated turkeys will go to local families in need in time for Thanksgiving.

The South Portland Land Trust will hold its annual meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m., at the Community Center. The event is open to the public. For more information, see www.southportlandlandtrust.org.

VFW to offer Thanksgiving meal

On Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in South Portland will offer a free meal with all of the fixings. Dinner will be served from noon-3 p.m. and transportation can be provided if needed.

The dinner will be held at VFW hall, 50 Peary Terrace. Call 767-2575 after 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday to make a reservation and arrange a ride.

Committee holds economic forum

The South Portland Economic Development Committee will host a second community workshop at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at the Community Center. Residents and the business owners are encouraged to attend. The focus of this workshop will be to further develop strategies and goals for the city’s new Economic Development Plan.
