Paquette to give talk at Springvale meeting
SPRINGVALE — A free, public presentation titled, “Save the Frogs! Why We Build Swim Ponds,” will be the highlight of the York County Extension Association’s annual meeting from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10 at Anderson Learning Center, 21 Bradeen St., Springvale.
Chris Paquette, owner of Robin’s Nest, LLC in Hollis, will discuss why and how he builds naturalized swim ponds. Robin’s Nest uses naturalized design techniques to obtain healthy, swimmable water in an environment supportive of nature. The swimming ponds are healthy for humans, fish and plant life, with no chlorine or other chemicals that kill frogs and harm the natural world.
Paquette and his wife and business partner, Terri Paquette, are also volunteers in the University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener program.
A dessert social will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the York County Extension Association’s annual meeting and Paquette’s talk. For more information or to request a disability accommodation, call 324-2814 or 800- 287-1535, or email rebecca. gowdy@maine.edu.
