“Art is Community VI” will be on display through Dec. 6 at The Old White Church, 15 Salmon Falls Road in Buxton. The exhibit will be open during Saco River Theater Concerts or by appointment. This juried annual art show show is sponsored by the Saco River Art League and features regional art and fine crafts, includes paintings, photography, sculpture and child-friendly interactive art-making for visitors during the opening weekend. A collection of fused glass artwork by Kay Mckeever Allison will be on display at the University of New England’s Biddeford Campus Center through Nov. 30. The exhibition features works of art made by cutting, layering and melting glass in a kiln at different temperatures. Many of the works are inspired by the Maine landscape. The exhibit is free and open to the public. UNE’s Campus Center is located at 11 Hills Beach Road in Biddeford. Portland Stage presents “The Mountaintop” by Katori Hall from Nov. 6-22, with previews running Nov. 3-5 at 25A Forest Ave. in Portland. The show is a theatrical re-imagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King. Katori Hall is the winner of the Blackburn Price for outstanding women playwriters, and with this production, she asks the question: what did Martin Luther King do the night before he died? “LAUGH OUT LOUD ( cry quietly),” a comedy about Internet dating, is being presented by the UNE Players at City Theater, 205 Main St., Biddeford, Nov. 13, 14, Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 15, Sunday, 2 p.m. Cost is $10, or free with a University of New England ID.

Good Theater will offer two talk-back sessions with the playwright, Rob Urbinati, of “Mama’s Boy” on Friday, Nov. 6 and Saturday, Nov. 7. These talk-back sessions are open to all patrons. The Friday night session will begin at 9:40 p.m. immediately following the conclusion of the 7:30 p.m. performance of “Mama’s Boy.” The Saturday afternoon session will begin at 5:10 p.m. following the 3 p.m. matinee. Playwright Urbinati will be joined by director Brian P. Allen and members of the cast for the talkback sessions. The show stars Broadway veteran Betsy Aidem as Marguerite Oswald, Laurel Casillo as Marina Oswald, Graham Emmons as Lee Harvey Oswald and Erik Moody as Robert Oswald.The show will take place at the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress St. in Portland and will run through Nov. 22. Mad Horse Theatre Company is proud to announce the third year of its popular “By Local” play series. The series has established itself as a standard for bringing original scripts by Maine writers to theater audiences in the Greater Portland area. Many plays originated at “By Local” have gone on to full productions – including Monica Wood’s “Papermaker” at Portland Stage Company and Callie Kimball’s “Alligator Road” at Mad Horse Theatre. The first “By Local” of this theatrical season will take place on the weekend of Nov. 5-8, 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. All performances will be at the Mad Horse Theater in the historical Hutchins School, 24 Mosher St. in South Portland.

Our Theatre Company proudly presents “A Christmas Story” from Dec. 4-13. Charles Dickens’ classic holiday story of redemption will be on stage on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. This show is general admission. Pianists Ilya Kazantsev and Eri Okubo-Kazantseva return to the Sanford-Springvale Historical Museum on Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m. Kazantsev will perform Rachmaninov’s transcriptions of works for solo piano by Schubert, Tchaikovsky and Mussorgsky and Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2. Okubo-Kazantseva will give a solo performance of a Japanese classic. Together they will also perform four-hand compositions by Debussy and Gershwin. Ogunquit Performing Arts announces the 15th annual Classic Film Series. Films will be shown at the Dunaway Center, 23 School St. in Ogunquit on the first Sunday of the month at 2 p.m. from November through May. “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” will be presented on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 2 p.m. In this prose work by the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, an old man shares his heartwarming memories of Christmases past with his grandson. Admission is free and there is plenty of free parking.
