She was born in Limerick on July 28, 1932, and graduated from Limerick High School.
Avis worked most of her life in the hospitality business, owning and operating motels in Ogunquit, North Conway, New Hampshire, and Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
She is preceded in death by: her son, Mark Richard Spear; and her longtime companion, Roland Chenard.
She is survived by: her son, Michael G. Spear and his wife Debra of Saco; daughter, Kathleen A. Mullen and her husband Bruce of Dayton; three grandchildren, Shannon, Michael, and Jonathan; two great-granddaughters; sisters, Marguerite Hayes, and Madeline Wagner; and numerous nephews and nieces. She will also be missed by her faithful companion Sammie, her Yorkie.
Per her request, there will be no formal services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service – Buxton. Online condolence messages can be submitted at the funeral home’s website, www.mainefuneral.com.
