A dispatcher at Cumberland County Regional Communications Center said at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday that a stretch of New Portland Road in Gorham was closed.

Gorham Public Works Director Bob Burns said the road closed from the roundabout to Bartlett Road is closed due to damage but it will likely open Wednesday night.

Eric Dudley, director of Westbrook Public Services, said the city had sustained some flooding and that New Gorham Road had been closed for a few minutes.

“The worst is over,” Dudley said.

Named New Gorham Road in Westbrook and New Portland Road in Gorham, the street links the two communities.
