GRAY — Cara Waltz scored the lone goal of the second half to lift Gray-New Gloucester to a 4-3 Western Maine Conference win over Freeport on Tuesday.

Bailey Coffin staked Freeport (1-1) to a 1-0 lead in the opening frame. Gray- New Gloucester (1-2) answered on a Skye Conley goal, but Maya Bradbury again tallied for the visitors for a 2-1 lead. Again the Patriots struck back as Jenny Holmquist tied the game.

Chloe Davidson gave the Falcons a third one-goal lead, only to watch the Patriots answer a third time on a second goal from Holmquist.

Freeport goaltender Morgan Karnes had 20 saves. The Falcons host Kennebunk on Thursday at 4 p.m.

CONY 6 BRUNSWICK 0

Delaney Keithley scored two goals and assisted on one as the visiting Rams picked up a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over 0-2-1 Brunswick, which visits Oxford Hills on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Brunswick goaltender Jordan Van Savage played well between the pipes, turning aside 27 shots. The Dragons struggled to cross midfield, putting three shots on goal.

“We need to work on execution for shots on goal and marking up defensively in the circle,” said Brunswick coach Karin Paquin. “We started to find our rhythm towards the end of the first half. We just need to spend more on focussing on playing our game and not trying to play the other teams game.”

Cony improved to 2-1.

OXFORD HILLS 4 MT. ARARAT 0

The visiting Vikings received a goal each from four players en route to a KVAC win at Topsham.

Lexi Caron, Bailey Wood, Ashlei Moss and Haley Wakefield tallied for Oxford Hills (2-1), while Vikings goaltender Anna Huff had six saves.

Haley Frizzell turned aside 17 shots in the Mt. Ararat (1-1-1) net. The Eagles visit Messalonskee on Thursday at 4 p.m.

MORSE 0 LAWRENCE 11

The Shipbuilders suffered their loss of the season, falling to Lawrence in KVAC Class B action at Fairfield.

Morse (1-1) managed eight shots on goal.

But, Lawrence was too strong, getting four goals each from Dominique Lewis and Alexis Chamberlain.

Morse goaltender Madeline Baker had 22 saves in the loss. Asia DeRosby and Emma Warner played well for the Shipbuilders, who host Gardiner on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. on McMann Field.
