
He was born in Freeport on Nov. 2, 1921, the son of Harold A. and Rose Matthews Dutton.
He graduated from Wiscasset Academy and received a theology degree and was ordained into the Nazarene Church in the 1970s. Pastor Dutton was the pastor of the Great Island Church of the Nazarene for 44 years. He also had been the pastor of the Yarmouth Church, the Richmond Church, which he helped build, and was the interim pastor at the Rockland Church of the Nazarene.
He was an accomplished woodworker and furniture manufacturer and was the former owner of Dirigo Wood Creations for many years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Ellis Dutton, in 1995; two brothers, Eugene Dutton and Bryce Dutton, and sister Doris Gallagher.
He is survived by two sons, Rev. Barry Dutton and his wife, Tavia of Palm Coast, FL and Kendall W. Dutton Jr. and his wife, Louise of DeLand, FL; a daughter, Gail Tobey and her husband, Dennis of Little Yarmouth Island; a sister, Maxine Croxford of Wiscasset;
11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. Interment will be in Cranberry Horn Cemetery in Harpswell. A tribute of his life may be viewed and condolences to the family expressed at www.brackettfuneralhome.com.
