FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Geno Smith insists he has moved on from the punch that rocked the franchise and might have cost him his starting job.

The New York Jets’ quarterback has no plans to file charges against former teammate Ikemefuna Enemkpali, the linebacker who broke Smith’s jaw when he slugged him in the locker room last month.

Smith, expected to miss at least the first four games of the regular season, would not address whether Enemkpali apologized to him. Smith also wouldn’t say if he reimbursed the $600 Enemkpali paid for the quarterback to appear at a youth camp in Texas – Smith later canceled because of a death of a friend – that is believed to be at the root of the dispute that came to a head on Aug. 11.

“I really don’t want to talk much about the incident,” Smith said Monday while meeting with reporters for the first time since he was punched. “I’ve put it behind me. We’re focusing on the Cleveland Browns as a team and we’ve got a big game ahead of us, so that’s all that really matters at this point.”

LIONS: Linebacker DeAndre Levy did not participate during the portion of practice open to reporters, and Coach Jim Caldwell says it’s not certain if he’ll play in Sunday’s season opener at San Diego.

Caldwell would not discuss the particulars of what’s been keeping Levy out of action, saying an injury report would be due Wednesday. Defensive tackle Caraun Reid and guard Larry Warford, both of whom have been dealing with ankle injuries, were also helmetless at practice.

The Lions put rookie cornerback Alex Carter on injured reserve-designated to return. They also re-signed defensive tackle Jermelle Cudjo, who was cut over the weekend and signed cornerback Stanley Jean-Baptiste to the practice squad.

BROWNS: Cleveland suspended offensive line coach Andy Moeller indefinitely for an unspecified incident.

Moeller is in his second season with Cleveland, joining the team in 2014 after six seasons with Baltimore. The team issued a statement during Monday’s practice saying Moeller “was involved in an incident, involving allegations that we take very seriously.”

Moeller has had three alcohol-related incidents since 2007. He was suspended two games and fined $47,000 by the NFL for a drunken driving conviction.

Backup quarterback Johnny Manziel is throwing passes in practice for the first time since Aug. 23 after being slowed by a sore right elbow.

Manziel did not play in Cleveland’s final two exhibition games. The second-year QB threw several short passes during the 30 minutes of practice open to media members.

Manziel had been throwing tennis balls and weighted balls last week while resting his elbow.

FALCONS: Atlanta released center Joe Hawley, who started 23 of his 57 games in five seasons with the team.

The Falcons added center Gino Gradkowski, who has 16 starts over three years with the Ravens, off waivers.

COWBOYS: Dallas added undrafted rookie quarterback Jameill Showers to its practice squad and claimed tackle Jordan Mills after he was waived by Chicago.

VIKINGS: Center John Sullivan is still recovering from a back injury.

Sullivan was not on the field for practice as the Vikings began preparation for their regular-season opener at San Francisco.

Coach Mike Zimmer said he’s not concerned, but rather encouraged, because Sullivan has been “getting better every day.”

Minnesota filled out its practice squad with former New England defensive end Zach Moore, a local small college product.

PANTHERS: Carolina began preparing for Sunday’s opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars without starting center Ryan Kalil and defensive tackle Star Lotulelei.

Kalil is still recovering from a left knee sprain, and Lotulelei has missed the entire preseason with a stress reaction in his surgically repaired right foot.

GIANTS: New York signed safety Craig Dahl and released safety Stevie Brown.

Dahl was a member of the Giants’ Super Bowl championship team in February 2008. He was released over the weekend by the San Francisco 49ers after two seasons with them.

Two months after injuring his right hand in a July 4 fireworks accident, two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has reported and met with the Giants.

Despite missing all of training camp, Coach Tom Coughlin would not rule out Pierre-Paul for the season opener in Dallas on Sunday night – provided the doctors clear him to play and he is fit.
