Though agriculture is the focus of the fair, visitors could also enjoy whirling carnival rides and midway games and the several merchants whose booths lined the walkways. … ”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “After a stubborn fight … the beautiful home of Mrs. John W. Bennet at Gilead was saved, although the house is badly damaged. The home had just been redecorated and while the loss cannot be told the damage will be large. The fire started at 10 o’clock Thursday morning around a new chimney in the kitchen. ” — Amanda Melanson
