From the Journal Tribune: “The 140th Acton Fair … featured farmers from all over York County and from Massachusets, Connecticut and New Hampshire. Though agriculture is the focus of the fair, visitors could also enjoy whirling carnival rides and midway games and the several merchants whose booths lined the walkways. … ”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A well baby and immunizaiton clinic will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Saco Public Health rooms, Cutts Avenue. Dr. Maurice Ross will be the attending physician … Volunteer assistants will be Mrs. Gene Palmer and Mrs. Peter Hellige.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “After a stubborn fight … the beautiful home of Mrs. John W. Bennet at Gilead was saved, although the house is badly damaged. The home had just been redecorated and while the loss cannot be told the damage will be large. The fire started at 10 o’clock Thursday morning around a new chimney in the kitchen. ” — Amanda Melanson
