From the Journal Tribune: “… As gasoline prices have risen … carpooling and public transportation seem to more attractive than before. In the Biddeford/Saco/Old Orchard Beach area, the shuttle Bus and Zoom commuter bus to Portland provide drivers with an option to save their gas money and lessen pollution at the same time. … Electric cars and compact cars have become more popular, however, as motorists trade in gas-draining sport utility vehicles for energy efficient transport.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A special town meeting was held last night to reappropriate $7,000 for a down payment on a tractor, beach cleaner and trailer. The group endorsed the articles calling for the monies and also voted to transfer $1,100 from Excise Tax revenue to Discount on Taxes unanimously, according to Town Manager Leon Jones.”
